Cass Averill, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Champion

Cass is a passionate activist and advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). With over a decade personal and professional experience in the DEIB space as a marginalized individual, an advocate, program manager, and global champion, his mission is to build intersectional cultures of belonging where everyone can bring their full and authentic selves to work – and to life – every day without fear of discrimination, oppression, or repercussion.

Cass was the first person to publicly transition on the job in his former fortune 500 global tech company, advocated for and helped institute transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, authored best practice guidelines for how-to transition within the company, implemented all-gender single-stall restrooms at multiple sites across the globe, and consulted on transgender/transition related policies and procedures.

He was a part of the White House LGBTQ Tech and Innovation summit in 2016 and has spoken at the Out & Equal Workplace Equality Summit on the topic of transgender inclusion multiple times. In addition to his corporate work Cass is the founder, board president, and administrator of TransPonder – a nonprofit based in Oregon dedicated to providing support, resources, and education for the transgender/gender diverse community and allies.

He is a facilitator, event organizer, consultant, and trainer who works with individuals, groups, and organizations to provide intersectional gender diversity awareness training, policy and procedure consultation, and promotes the inclusive treatment of transgender individuals in all areas of life.
